Ashford Street Pastors secured vital community grant funding from the Police Property Act Fund.

 Who is eligible for support from the Police Property Act Fund Grants?

The Police Property Act Fund is generated from the sale, at auction, of items seized in police operations and is accessible by Registered Charity, Social Enterprise, Constituted Group or Community Interest Companies (CIC) with a clear connection to Kent. These grants support initiatives aligned with the Police and Crime Plan priorities: Cut Crime, Support Victims, and Build Trust.

Ashford Street Pastors is delighted to acknowledge and express our sincere gratitude to Matthew Scott the Police & Crime Commissioner for Kent ://www.kent-pcc.gov.uk/what-we-do/police-property-act-fund/ along with the moderation review panel and the independent member from that office for their generous financial support of £2,000. 

Night time Safety Patrols

This funding significantly strengthens our ability to continue delivering a vital service directly within the local community — especially providing welfare assistance from our teams of volunteers operating on the ground together with the use of the Ashford Street Pastors Safe Space welfare vehicle to aid vulnerable individuals in Ashford town centre during peak nightlife hours.

For this purpose the Safe Space Welfare Vehicle (SS1) explicitly enhances Ashford Street Pastors engagement and support outreach to the local community during the night time economy. Specifically the Ashford Street Pastors volunteer teams along with the Safe Space welfare vehicle offer:

• A haven for anyone who feels threatened, at risk, or in need of help.
• A spot to wait, borrow a phone, or get help contacting the emergency services without judgment.

This Safe Space and other local businesses and venues display a designated “Safe Space” logo on their window or door.

Additionally this funding will contribute to the employment of Ashford Street Pastor’s Coordinator. The Coordinator is key to the continuity of Ashford Street Pastors by organising this local community support initiative chiefly equipping our volunteers with the resources they need to provide practical aid and assistance to those who are vulnerable, distressed, or in need of care during the night-time economy.
