The first surprise of the night was the amount of broken glass.  Corn Street in particular.  There were 4 or 5 areas that took some sweeping up. (it’s one of the things we do to keep people safe)
Over the course of the evening we had lots of very good conversations.  We met the Tin Man from the Wizard of Oz who insisted on a photograph with us.   It was a very entertaining and rewarding night.
Toward 2.30 during our second half, we were thinking about ending the patrol once we had completed the Triangle.   We came across a young man on all fours in the gutter.  He was with 2 friends who had phoned for an ambulance.  When we first tried to communicate with him there was no response at all.   Several police officers joined us to check all was ok.  I’m not sure they are completely aware of what we do.   But they helped us, when we moved the guy fully on to the pavement.  He was a little more conscious by then and after nearly an hour, we got him into an ambulance.
