“Street Pastors is about Christians rolling up their sleeves and getting involved in practically responding to the problems of crime and safety. They are like beacons on our streets and I want to see them shining brightly in every constituency.”

David Burrowes, Patron of Ascension Trust

Caithness Street Pastors were commissioned on 20th November 2022 with our first patrol a week later. It is our intention to go out on the last Saturday each month, initially in Wick with an aspiration to build up the team so that we can have patrols in Thurso and Wick initially at least once per month.

Street Pastors was pioneered in London in 2003, spreading rapidly across the UK; Street Pastors is now a global movement. The church in action, on the streets of our towns and cities, showing the love of Jesus in practical ways through listening, caring and helping.

Caithness Street Pastors is operated by a management team with representatives from different Christian denominations across Caithness and our volunteers come from 3 different Christian churches across Caithness.

Currently on the last Saturday night of each month a team of 4 street pastors goes out from 10pm until 1am in Wick town centre, to listen, show care and help. We do this in practical ways of giving time unconditionally to those who have become separated from friends, by staying with them and helping them to find their friends or get home safely. We also offer practical help by giving out water, lollipops, foil blankets, hand knitted woolly hats and gloves and basic First Aid.
