To Cheltenham Street Pastors

Welcome to the Cheltenham Street Pastors website

Thank you for visiting our Street Pastors website.

We are part of a national team first pioneered in 2003 by Rev Les Isaac, and Street Pastors continues to grow throughout the UK and across the world. We currently operate in over 200+ UK locations. Street Pastors have also been launched in Australia, Antigua, Barbuda, Trinidad and Tobago.

Street pastors are trained volunteers from local Cheltenham churches who care about the wellbeing and welfare of our community.

We are usually on patrol from 10 p.m. to 4 a.m. on a Friday and Saturday night to care for, listen to and help people who are out on the streets.

We are led by our local coordinator and we also have support from local churches and community groups. We are in partnership with the police, local council and other statutory agencies.

The Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner recently said

“We were incredibly impressed with the passion and commitment that you and your fellow Street Pastors demonstrate within Cheltenham. It is reassuring to hear about the excellent structures that you have in place to ensure you and your colleagues are as well-equipped as possible to deliver the care, help and listening ear so many people benefit from as a result of your excellent work in addition to the well-directed prayers. We are in no doubt that the work you do significantly contributes to people having a safer night out in Cheltenham and this certainly extends beyond what the police would otherwise deliver.”

In November 2019, Cheltenham Street Pastors were awarded ‘The Community Hero Award’. This was one of the Police and Crime Commissioner’s Awards which we were very proud to receive.

Well done Street Pastors and Prayer Pastors, your quiet, unassuming volunteering is not gone unnoticed!

It was awarded at the same time as we celebrated 10 Years patrolling in Cheltenham.
