After our Commissioning Service in August 2011 our first intrepid teams set out to patrol in Chesterfield town centre from 10 pm to 4 am the following morning. We have put out a team almost every week since that Saturday which makes us due for a 7th birthday celebration.
The town centre looks very different from when we first started. Many of the original clubs and venues have changed names, appearance and themes several times. Buildings like the old Co-op are in the process of becoming a Premier Inn, fitness centre and restaurant complex. The old fashioned multi-storey car park off the donut roundabout has been demolished and a new modern version will soon emerge.
What hasn’t changed is the commitment of our volunteers to care, listen and help in Chesterfield. We do have recent additions but many of the original crew are still faithfully serving our community 7 years on. We are on the hunt for new recruits so please get in touch if you would like to know more chesterfield@streetpastors.org.uk
Happy 7th Birthday Chesterfield Street Pastors!
