Mike is one of our valued and enthusiastic Street Pastors here in Edinburgh.

Having retired a few years ago, Mike was looking for an opportunity to help and care for others and so became a Street Pastor. Here, his compassionate nature and willingness to help others in need were put to great effect on the City Centre streets.

The Coronavirus Pandemic and subsequent lock down came as a great frustration to Mike – and many others like him. How could our volunteers give the help which others needed so desperately, perhaps even more so during the current crisis?

That’s where being in partnership with other organisations like Bethany Christian Trust has benefits. An arrangement was made between the two Charities whereby Street Pastors who were unable to patrol as normal could still care for those in need through Bethany, in particular the Care shelter, providing accommodation for homeless.

Mike, along with others, was delighted to help out at Bethany. He has been involved at their temporary premises at The Old Waverly Hotel, cooking and serving those in need.

Well done Mike – such a great way to continue caring for those in need!
