Harrow Street Pastors

Get Involved

We are searching for enthusiastic people that have a heart for the people of our town!

Street Pastors:

Our aim is to draw alongside people, to reveal God’s love by showing them we care, to be a listening ear when it seems no one else will and to offer help where appropriate. You will need to show compassion to those we meet and serve without being judgmental.

We patrol most Friday nights from 10:00pm to 2:00am and occasional Saturday afternoons from 2:00pm to 6:00pm.

Specific Volunteer Requirements: Over 18 years old, to be a committed member of a local Christian Church, to be able to give one night a month on the streets, to be good team player and a listener, to commit to our training.

Training takes place in person at St Mark’s Kennington near Oval Station), and via Zoom online training on Saturday mornings. The course covers Listening Skills, Drug Awareness, Knowing your Community, Mental Health, Youth Culture, Policing, Good News and specifically the Roles and Responsibilities specific to being a Street Pastor. There is one full day and 14 half days of training along with two supervised patrols with an experienced team.

If interested in joining our growing team please complete the Street Pastors Application Form and return it to Quinton Stowell via post or email.

Prayer Pastors:

Whilst the team is out on patrol we have a team back at base praying. They are in phone contact with the Street Pastors and are kept up-to-date regularly to direct their prayers.

Specific Volunteer Requirements: Over 18 years old, to be a committed member of a local Christian Church, to be able to give one night a month, to be happy to pray in an ecumenical setting.

If interested in joining our growing team please contact Quinton.
