#GiveMe5 – chance for £5 donations to Kingston charity to be doubled on 28th January

Localgiving’s #GiveMe5 match fund will run on January 28th and February 25th, doubling 1,000 £5 donations made through the website on each day

  • People in Kingston can donate £5 to Street Pastors Kingston for the chance to have it doubled through the campaign

Kingston based Street Pastors Kingston, which provides care for the vulnerable on Friday and Saturday nights in the Kingston town Centre, is taking part in Localgiving’s #GiveMe5 campaign, offering local supporters the chance to have their donations to the charity doubled.

#GiveMe5 will take place on January 28th and again on February 25th, aiming to inspire support for community-focused charities like Street Pastors Kingston, by doubling 1,000 £5 donations made throughout each day. At the end of each 24 hour match fund period, 1,000 donations will be randomly selected to benefit from an additional £5 of match funding, with successful donors being notified within 48 hours.

The Kingston based charity will be using the #GiveMe5 campaign to kick-start its fundraising this year, with the aim of training more volunteers to patrol the streets and to provide the equipment to enable the care they offer.

Paul Jacobs, Coordinator at Street Pastors Kingston said, “We’re incredibly excited to be part of #GiveMe5 and hope that the local community will show their generosity and support. Just one matched £5 donation would give an additional £10 of funding, which would allow us to provide 10 pairs of flip flops or 100 lollies or 20 bottles of water or train 1/15 of a street pastor. We hope Localgiving’s #GiveMe5 campaign will help us to maximise the opportunity and raise as much as possible.”

Localgiving is also encouraging members of the public to back the campaign by posting a #GiveMe5 selfie and pledging to make a £5 donation on the day.

Stephen Mallinson, Chief Executive of Localgiving said, “Local groups such as Street Pastors Kingston can do amazing things with even the smallest amount of funding and #GiveMe5 provides a great opportunity for people in the Kingston area to get involved and make a real difference. We’re encouraging everyone to take part by sharing a #GiveMe5 selfie and pledging to make a £5 donation through the campaign. I’ve done mine: now it’s everyone else’s turn.” You may wish to post it to social media and onto the Street Pastors Kingston Website at kingston@streetpastor.org.uk
