Saturday: Great conversations. Started very quietly but later it was very busy. Highlights Friday 10.35 Spent some time talking to Tom the doorman at ONeills who had his application to join the Met police accepted and now waiting to be contacted by the recruitment panel. Just before that we encountered someone leaning against the wall who was quite abusive at first. But then he came over and apologised. Said it was the drink talking, that he wasnt a Christian but he liked what we did. 11.40 We have just been talking to the guy who is sleeping in the doorway of Monsoon. Asked us for water. He was quite comfortable. He didnt want much of a conversation but thanked us for the water then left. A young lad in Clarence Street just said, You do a good job, God bless you, then he sprinted off towards Macdonalds. 11.50 Had various cheerful conversations with 4 girls outside Pizza Express. They had flip flops and lollies. Very happy and shook hands. Promised wed meet them later outside Chiccoland about 3 oclock. Good encounter. 1.15 Tracey: Just directed to a man asleep on a bench with the lights left flashing on his bike. Been engaged with him. Late 40s. Hes cycled from Richmond, been to his friends on his way home to Surbiton. Turns out he works as a night duty carer in a care home. He was interested in what we were doing. Lovely chat with him. 2.30 Two girls stopped us and asked if we would help them. They said they had been sexually assaulted in a taxi cab and didnt know what to do. They were very agitated as you would expect. At the same time a policewoman and policeman happened to be walking past and took charge of the situation. Tracey did a lot of work with them in terms of talking with them, calming them down and trying to get their phones working. The police decided to take them back to the police station as it was so close. It was one of those we were in the right place at the right time. The girls continued to be really upset. At least they can start the process of bringing charges. 3.15 Katy Were outside Hippodrome. Just talking to M her male friend. Her friends have tried to get her smashed. They seem to have succeeded. Shes had some water. She is alert and able to get herself to the bus with the help of a friend. Job done. 3.20 Were outside the Hippodrome. It is absolutely heaving. Chiccoland is busy. Weve had lots of conversations with people passing, asking for lollies, also directions. Also met the girl we met earlier who said meet you at Chiccoland at 3 oclock who has asked for flip flops. Weve have hugs all round there. Pretty good. 4.10 Met a whole group of youngsters outside KURC sitting on the floor. They liked what we do. Very complimentary. At the end of a busy evening what a great end to it all! Saturday 11pm Were standing outside Wilkinsons. Just met a man must be in his late 40s. Hes a bricklayer. Bit delusional Im afraid. He said he had a lot of money abroad and he is going back. Hes been in prison for 12 weeks for causing damage and when he came out he got into more trouble. He got arrested last night, and was in front of the magistrates this morning. Dont know exactly what happened. He is going back somewhere possibly Poland. He says hes been here 20 years. Spoke good English. Quite drunk. Lets hope he can get back. Said God bless us when we parted. 1.10 We have just attended to a woman early 30s. She caused concern because she was trying to go the toilet behind the telephone boxes on old London road. She seemed more intoxicated than having mental health issues. She was dressed quite smartly. She knew she needed to get home. Gave her some water. She had an Oyster card and a mobile phone. She wasnt endangering herself. We walked her to the bus stop. Not much more we can do. She didnt want an ambulance or any police and she was very reluctant to speak to any males. 2.35 Weve just been at Przym to attend to a girl who was drunk and disorderly. They had requested the police. Just as we got there this girl was being pushed along by the doorstaff from Pryzm towards Wilkinsons. The police arrived and the police immediately put handcuffs on her. She was very upset and wouldnt give her name to anyone. Her friend was also very loud and shouting at everybody because in her eyes her friend was being badly treated. Eventually she gave her name and address to the police. We calmed the situation down. They came over to Subway with us for a cup of coffee. It took the best part of an hour to do that. 3.50 Theres been a commotion outside where some guy ran into Eden Walk. The doormen were immediately called by Charlie Charlie to go and try and sort it out and then they were followed by the police. It did seem there was some fighting. They seemed to have resolved it now. A bit of a stressful night for the police and for all those involved.
