In March we were invited to celebrate Leicester city receiving the Purple Flag award. It was great to meet people who we had only been emailing. It coincided with the light festival in the city which was fantastic.

We were able to be out for three saturdays. Below are some of our highlights.

  • We offered 49 volunteer hours in the city
  • We collected 96 bottles or pieces of glass that could have been used as weapons
  • We had conversations with over 90 people
  • We gave directions to 18 different people who were new to the city
  • We supported 2 different young women who were vulnerable and at risk from others

We also held a free training session so that Street Pastors could come together and revisit the reasons why they were street pastors. This was an affirming and uplifting experience. For some it was the first time they had got together since before lockdown.

We were also involved in Leicester Diocese Vocations Day where we were able to speak to people about the ministry of Street Pastors.

It has been a busy month and next month we celebrate over 17 years on the streets of Leicester by having a celebration event.

PLEASE COME AND JOIN US AT ST ANDREW’S, JARROM STREET LEICESTER ON 24TH APRIL AT 2PM TO CELEBRATE
