Offering flipflops to those who are walking around the city with no shoes on is a practical demonstration of what Street Pastors can do. Wearing the flipflops stops any cuts from broken glass so that alleviates the pressure on A&E services. In the past month we handed out 7 pairs of flipflops.
Other examples of practical support are:
Offering bottles of water; especially in this hot weather to reduce dehydration. Free water just allows a person to rehydrate and feel better. In the past month we handed out 5 bottles of water.
Picking up glass so that it is not a danger to people. In the last 4 weeks we have picked up 200 glass items.
All of this is done voluntarily, with our teams providing 36 hours of support last month.
