We are a close, active team of volunteers from a wide variety of churches across Luton. Volunteers can be aged 18 – 80 and need to commit to at least one patrol per month.

As a Street Pastor, you will go out on patrols of the town centre with your team in any and all weather. You will meet people from all parts of society, and will be there to listen, care and help those in need. All of our volunteers share a Christian faith, and we ask that you regularly attend church. Our volunteers come from across all denominations and backgrounds.

Volunteers go through a vigorous training programme, including the roles and responsibilities of a Street Pastor, to basic First Aid training, to learning about the local community, and much more. We ask that, if you are able, you contribute to the financial cost of training. However, if this is an issue, there is a small supplementary fund available.

Volunteers need to complete a formal application and will need to provide references; you will also be subject to a DBS check.

We realise that there is a risk to being out on the streets at night, which is why we work closely with the local police, and we are connected to the local CCTV system and radio link.

As a team we also like to have fun together! We aim to have regular socials, including a Christmas meal and occasional prayer and worship events. We share in the good times and support each other when our patrols are difficult.

If you are interested in learning more about volunteering with us, or would like to observe one of our patrols, please get in touch with our coordinator via the Contact Us page.

We look forward to hearing from you.
