This article from the Guardian is titled: “The making of a hangover: the true impact of one night out”. Reporters went out in 7 city centres across the country on one night of British drinking to assess its impact on the National Health Service. Though focussing on A&E departments, it also features groups helping keep people out of A&E. In Edinburgh a reporter accompanied a Street Pastors patrol and in Manchester one went out with a Street Angels patrol. They had originally contacted us, but we did not have a patrol out that night (but we’re working on it) and passed it on to Manchester city centre Street Angels. Opportunity missed for the Church? Maybe, but we are glad for the Street Angels, who patrol the Deansgate area, as the article – which includes several short video clips – gives a good insight into their work, which is very similar to ours.
