The Moss Side team was set up in 2004, using the London project as a model, by a local community organisation, Charisma, on behalf of local churches. Tony Winter was the coordinator and at the request of the local police further teams were soon set up in Longsight and Gorton becoming Manchester Inner South. Tony Winter left Street Pastors in March 2012 but remains an advocate, ambassador and an Ascension Trust representative.
We now also patrol Rusholme, Fallowfield & Withington and have changed our name (again) this time to Manchester South!
Manchester South Street Pastors go out on Friday and Saturday nights, building relationships in the community and working with students, rough sleepers and anyone we meet during the patrol. Listening, caring and helping.
Our patrol times vary depending on the time of year, if the students are around and the area we patrol. Sometimes we will be out from 9pm – 1am and sometimes we will be out from 12-4am.
Please get in touch with us if you would like to come out and observe our patrols and if you would like to find out more.
