Category: Prayer Pastors

Every St Pastor team is supported by a team of Prayer Pastors whilst on patrol, with whom the St Pastors are in regular contact, so that they can pray “informed” prayers. We have seen many examples of directly answered prayer, a few of which are listed below:

Another “impossible” situation solved by prayer

Before we went out on patrol one of our Prayer Pastors talked about our serving, giving to God was at a cost to us and that if it didn’t cost us something it was of no worth. At about 2.30 am we were called to a lassie, completely out of reason due to alcohol, no […]

A miracle we didn’t know we needed

Sometimes when we ring in to the prayer pastors it can be difficult to know what to ask them to pray for – our team had an incident on our last patrol which brought home the fact that, when we lift a person or situation to the Lord in prayer, he knows exactly what is […]

Answered Prayer – from a non-Prayer Pastor!

We were on patrol when we met one of our former Street Pastors walking home with his wife who hugged us and prayed that we would have at least one life changing conversation that night. Later on we met a street sleeper who opened the conversation by telling us how holy he was (!) and […]

Sobered up……..by beer!

The prayer pastors had a call saying that there was a young guy behaving quite aggressively towards his group of friends outside a pub on the Barbican, so we duly prayed that the situation would calm down and peace would abound. However, the words that came out of my mouth were asking God to Douse […]

Knuckle dusters no challenge to God!

It was the last shift of the evening and the Street Pastors were informed that there was a car driving around the car park at Oceana with men ‘tooled up’ with knuckle dusters and studded belts. The doormen felt that the presence of the Street Pastors would calm the situation and one jokingly said Can […]

Does prayer work?

Well one of the many examples of answered prayer we’ve seen was in early December when we were called to help a very drunk young man who was vomiting and seemed to be in some pain. He was also jerking as if fitting and he didn’t have much English. He seemed frightened by the sight […]

Cooperation by prayer

We were trying to help a young lady who was sat in a bus stop being sick, but she simply would not do anything we suggested or asked her to do. She refused water then, when we and her friend tried to get her to walk, she let her legs fall and sat on the […]

Drunk, Alone and Vulnerable

A Street Pastor team came across a young girl at 3.50 am. She was drunk, alone and vulnerable and whilst she knew that the taxi fare to her house was £10; she had spent all her money. With her help the Street Pastors tried ringing her friends and family to see if they could contact […]

Answered prayer for a Street Pastor

I’d been having real problems on my first shift as my knee had been getting progressively more painful as I walked (read more break here if possible please) so in our first break, I asked the Prayer Pastors to pray for me. When I came in for the second break, they asked me “How’s the […]

Answered prayer from 4 years ago!

We are delighted to have Anne with us as a St Pastor, who at age 86, returned to patrols recently, having had a few months break. After her first patrol in 2013, she was delighted to report: “I had a greatly rewarding time on Saturday – a young woman I met on Union Street 4 […]

Fight avoided by prayer and persuasion

We were on the Barbican and decided to take a turn we hadn’t originally intended to. As we walked we saw two groups of people pass each other, but one made a comment about a girl in the other group. That set things off – coats were thrown down, but we prayed and rang the […]

Our Father God taking care of us as we take care of others

It was just after 11 pm. We were on North Hill and became aware of two girls coming up behind us. We were a little concerned that they seemed quite young. They were carrying pillows and backpacks. We decided to keep them in sight, then we caught up with them and gently engaged them in […]

More answered prayer

We were called over to help a very drunk student who was alone and couldn’t remember where she lived as it was her first night in Plymouth. She had a pass card for one of the student residences, but there was nothing to indicate which one, so we tried various ones with no success. We […]

Lost in Plymouth

A Street Pastor team found a girl alone and all she could remember was that she lived in Okehampton. She couldn’t remember how she’d arrived in Plymouth or who with. With her permission and “help” the team used her mobile phone to call mum, dad, friends etc. all with no replies. Again the Prayer Pastors […]

Healing by Prayer

And from a Street Pastor – We were walking down North Hill when my knee suddenly began to get really painful as I walked and I felt as if it was about to totally lock up so that I’d be unable to walk at all! We rang the Prayer Pastors and within seconds it was […]

Calming Prayer

From one of our team leaders. We saw and heard many answers of prayer as we phoned base for prayer. God was seen to heal relationships with couples who were shouting and pushing each other to peace as the Prayer Pastors were praying. There was a gang of lads “kicking off” and we just prayed […]
