We came across a lady in a rather distressed state, no trousers on, had had two fits, no keys to get in to her home to get her Methodone or Valium. She had been hurt from a fall, and indicated that she wanted to kill herself. Her morale was definitely very low, hated by her mother, and separated from her daughter.

She did not want to go to Derriford Hospital, because of the way they had treated her as an addict there on a previous occasion. Two of our ladies kept her calm and a joint effort eventually between us, the Police and the ambulance staff resulted in her allowing Street Pastors to escort her into the ambulance.

Very much on her own, it could have averted something else if a different person had found her, as the area she was found in is a known working area for females working the streets at night, and she was found without trousers on. The little we did was done with sincere care, but so much more is needed for her.

It was a privilege to just be there and hold her hand, smile and look into her eyes with compassion, to pray for her and to keep her in my prayers since.
