It was actually a quiet night. You may be aware that there has been significant anti-social behaviour in Richmond in recent weeks. The Green has been the site of mass gatherings of younger people, who have caused injury and damage when being asked to move. There has also been unacceptable and threatening behaviour by some adults in the grounds of St Mary Magdalene church (behind Tesco). There have been several dispersal orders put in place across Richmond and Twickenham – including on Friday night. There was a significant police presence on the streets and the Green on Friday night which resulted in a quiet time. It was busy around the station, but no trouble and the safe space was in place. We had good conversations with the Police and Council volunteers there. Most places across the town were calm. Viva had a few people outside, but the door staff had it under control. We all need to be mindful of the rise in trouble in Richmond when out on Friday nights – especially when there isn’t such a large police presence.
