THE GUARDIAN angels who help keep the town centre safe at night have welcomed new members.
Rugby Street Pastors commissioned the newly trained members at a special Commissioning Service at Rugby Baptist Church led by Rev David Fleming and Pastor Jonathan Skelton, the Chair of the group’s management team.
They were joined by serving team members, family and friends – and Police and Crime Commissioner Philip Seccombe, his Communications Officer Priya Tek Kalsi and Chief Inspector Karen Jones from Warwickshire Police’s Safer Neighbourhood and Harm Hub Team.
Rugby Street Pastors Coordinator Dawn Thurkettle welcomed the new members to the team,
She said: “The new Street Pastors have shown such commitment and completed the necessary training modules so that they are safe and effective on the street.
“We have been caring, listening to and helping to those in need on Friday and Saturday night between 10pm and 4am for 13 years. It is a joy and a privilege to serve our community and show the church in action.
“I am thankful for the positive relationship the churches have with the Police and council across Rugby, working together to serve our community.”
