On Sunday 2nd April Rugby Street Pastors celebrated their new volunteer Street Pastors with a Commissioning Service at Bilton Evangelical Church, led by Pastor Jonathan Skelton, the Chair of their Management team.
They were also joined by serving team members, family and friends.

All team members complete 50 hours of training prior to patrolling, ensuring they are safe and equipped to deal with people and situations that arise, in a non-judgemental, non-confrontational manner.
Street Pastors are Christians practically demonstrating the love of Christ in the night time economy from 10.00pm – 4.00am on Friday and Saturday nights, by Caring, Listening and Helping people, often when they are at their most vulnerable.

They were privileged to be joined by the High Sheriff of Warwickshire – David Kelham, the Warwickshire Police and Crime Commissioner – Philip Seccombe and his Communications Officer – Priya Tek Kalsi,
Inspector Sally Bunyard-Spiers – Rugby Safer Neighbourhood Team and Warwickshire Police Lead Chaplain – Matthew Hopley.

Dawn Thurkettle – Rugby Street Pastors Coordinator said Rugby Street Pastors have been Caring Listening and Helping all those in need on Friday and Saturday night for the past 14 years. It is a joy and a privilege to serve our community and show the church in action serving our town and I am so thankful for the positive relationship the churches have across Rugby, working together to serve our community.

The new Street Pastors have shown such commitment and have completed the necessary training modules, so that they are safe and effective on the street. Welcome to the team!
