Yesterday saw the farewell for ‘Teardrop Charlie’ (James). His hearse stopped for 15 minutes near to where his pitch was at the top of the precinct. There was a large gathering of loved ones and Marcus addressed the attendees and spoke love for James and his life. It was however a stark reminder that those on the margins of our communities are often taken far too young. Having spoken to James many times, I know that he professed a Christian faith. Emma, and other loved ones, can take some comfort from the words of Jesus “In my Father’s house are many rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you?”
