We are really pleased to have School Pastors on patrol at Uplands Academy. We have received a warm welcome from staff and students.  The pack of dobble (a quick fire card game) has been dusted off, and we’ve jumped straight in with some amazing conversations with students, that you wouldn’t expect so early on after getting   back on the ground.

The team has spent the majority of its time reacquainting ourselves with the schools outdoor spaces during lunch and breaktimes including navigating the new layout and ongoing building work. It was also great to meet some of the students that remembered us from our School Pastor visits to their Year 6 classes before they moved to secondary.

Our team of School Prayer Pastors have continued to meet weekly on Zoom to pray during term time.   It’s been great to see how the team have fervently pushed on in prayer in spite of the obstacles that seemed to be standing in the way of getting back on the ground. It has also been great to be able to  come alongside Heathfield Street   Pastors as they set up a new school pastor initiative there, and also with our own street pastors as they are just starting to conduct after-school patrols in Tunbridge Wells.

We would love others to join our brilliant School and Prayer Pastor team. I discovered that Uplands has over thirty feeder schools this year, and it would be great to build our team again to reflect more of the variety of churches and communities represented within the school’s vast catchment area, after some existing members of the team have moved away. We have a safe recruitment policy, and all training and uniform will be provided, so if you are interested in finding out more or want a chat then please email Kat Fisher, School Pastor Coordinator on wadhurstschoolpastors@gmail.com

Please pray for:

  1. Uplands Academy, the new Head and Leadership Team of the School
  2. Students as they settle back into the new term after the Christmas break, and for those working towards GCSE, A-Levels and other educational achievements and for those choosing their options for next year.
  3. Our School Pastor Team, that we would continue rebuild positive relationships with students and staff, for good health and for new team members to provide more opportunities to listen, care and help.
