Last Friday night 9th November the Wandsworth Street Pastor Ministry came together for their autumn social. It was a great evening with about 16 people from our local teams Balham, Tooting and Wandsworth Town, as well as two loyal Prayer Pastors. Rosie Pike and Claire Greenway from our management committee rustled up a very tasty jacket potato with chilli con carne, cheese and salad and the icing on the cake was an apple crumble. After food and chat it was nice to officially welcome on board to our team two new street pastors in training, Beverley Preddie and Janice Lynas, who are now both legible to patrol. We also thanked God for 3 Street Pastors, Wayne McIntosh, David Wilson and Madelaine Theobald who will be graduating as fully trained Street Pastors on 24th November.
I shared 3 thoughts about how we might move our Street Pastor Ministry forward.
1. Remember the passion we had at the beginning for this work,
2. Focus on our gifts and talents
3. Don’t be afraid to reorganise
We prayed for God to give us guidance and wisdom to continue serving him in this work. We also were happy to welcome Eddie Chow and pray for his important job to connect the Chinese church with the Street Pastor Ministry. Finally we had an opportunity to thank God for the life of Alan Brock and the privilege we had in working with him. He modelled to us all what it was to be a good Street Pastor and leader in this work.
We now look forward to coming together again in the new year 2013
