During February there were:

  • 3 Friday night patrols
  • 3 Saturday night patrols
  • 6 Patrols totalling 31 hours of cover involving 20 Street Pastors
  • 16 pairs of flip-flops given, 250 lollies and Love Hearts

Here are some of the ways Street Pastors cared, listened and helped in February:

  • Spent time with young people at Sweatbox Youth Centre
  • Walked a young lady home
  • Helped to calm a rather nasty altercation
  • Cared for several distressed females

Following a fairly quiet January, February was busier with one of our teams giving out 13 pairs of flip-flops on one Saturday night. Throughout the month we spent quite a bit of time caring for females who were in distress for some reason or who had had too much to drink.

We walked home with one young lady to make sure she got there safely and we helped another, very cold young lady with flip-flops and a helping hand to get her boyfriend’s jacket on.

We met another girl who wasn’t well and stayed with her until she began to recover enough to make her way home.

Two of our teams visited Sweatbox Youth Centre and spent time with the staff and young people – even helping a young lad who had hurt himself playing a game.

We were able to pray with several people during February and we often feed back prayer requests to our prayer team at our base. When we spend time with people, we sometimes find that they begin to tell us what’s going on in their lives. Occasionally we offer prayer, when it seems appropriate or perhaps when there really is nothing else that can be done, and usually we find that the person we’re with is very grateful and sometimes moved by such an offer.
