On one of our afternoon patrols our team met two lads who wanted to chat with us. They told us how they had lived in supported housing and had got into all sorts of trouble but they were both now working and living independently.
One of our teams met a lady who shared with them some of the things she is going through and asked our advice. Our team suggested she visit Vale Community Impact for advice on specific issues. We offered to pray with her, which she gratefully accepted, asking different members of the team to pray for her in turn.
In March Olly Glover MP joined one of our patrols for a night. It was a cold night, but thankfully it didn’t rain – especially as Olly had cycled over from Didcot to be with us. Everyone in town seemed to be cheerful and we had lots of good conversations with different people – many wanting to chat, have hugs and lollies and photos! We did spend some time with a man who was upset following a recent break-up.
In April we met three young men, one of whom had had too much to drink. We gave them bottles of water and lollies. Two of the men assured us that they would get their friend home safe and sound.
Sadly, one of our teams encountered some verbal abuse from a man after he approached us and asked who we were. We were not able to engage with the man but were able to pray for him later when we got back to our base. We went on to continue with the patrol and help resolve an incident where one man had become violent. We called the police and tried to keep people at a safe distance and support those affected by the incident.
