Yeovil Street Pastors
Yeovil Street Pastors welcomes you to this website where you will find information about us and how you can join our team.
We started patrolling Yeovil town centre streets in 2009, as part of a national team first pioneered in 2003 – Street Pastors continues to grow across the UK and the world.
We are an inter-denominational Church response to urban problems, engaging with people on the streets late at night. We are volunteers from Christian congregations working as a team to be a caring presence and a listening ear, and helping people to stay safe whilst they are out on Friday & Saturday nights. We care for our community.
Whilst the Street Pastors are patrolling the streets, there are also those back at base called Prayer Pastors, who provide prayer support. The Street Pastors do not go onto the streets without this sustained prayer.
In our distinctive uniforms, we are usually walking the town centre streets from 10pm to 4am every Friday & Saturday, patrolling from the top end of town down through Middle Street to Wetherspoons and then up around to Club Neo and Chicago Rock in Stars Lane.
As a Registered Charity (No. 1141102), we are led by a Management Committee and our Co-ordinator Steve Hart. We work in partnership with local Christian congregations, the police and the local council (often referred to as the Urban Trinity).
If you are a committed Christian aged 18 years and above, a member of a local church and are interested in becoming either a Street Pastor or Prayer Pastor, please use the contact details on this page.
