INCIDENTS OF NOTE: 02/11/24
Saturday morning
• Sunny morning in the town, lots of interesting conversations. A few Poppies supporters out and excited by the evening game.
• Chatted with lovely couple who were involved with community projects for many years
• Called into florist who were extending their hours
• Went into KSN who offered a raffle prize for our fundraising event
• Food bank were busy and very grateful for all of the harvest donations.
• Chatted to stall holder who was celebrating the 1st anniversary of her business
• Conversation with shopping centre security, hoping for a quiet day
• Spoke with Big Issue seller
• Lovely chat with tattooist and someone about to have a new tattoo
• Spoke with a 76-year old gentleman heading to the gym who had been going for a number of years
• Long conversation about what we do with a local writer who had also been involved with charity work
Saturday night
• Great atmosphere in town with many people out celebrating Kettering Town’s FA Cup win over Northampton.
• Lots of people out in fancy dress for Halloween.
• Conversation with young female struggling to come to terms with her current situation at home and social life
• Chatted to young male who had to defer from university due to financial difficulties
• Assisted young female who needed to contact her friend who had her ID and money. Her phone needed charging to contact her.
• Conversation with two young ladies. One was her friend who was trying to convince her to go home but she wanted to stay out. Eventually managed to convince her to go home with her friend.
• Spent time talking with young lady who was suffering with her mental health. Joined in prayer with her permission.
• Chatted to group of young men who had been to watch the fireworks at Wicksteed Park
• Assisted man who fell over on the pavement. Helped him pick up his stuff but otherwise he was fine.
• Spoke to couple who were known to the group trying to start up Street Pastors in Rushden
• Long conversation with a man trying to deal with some complicated life events.
• Spoke to a young man walking home after a fun night out with friends, was worried about having to get up the next day to work.
• Lots of positive comments about the SNO van being a great resource. Although one person thought he had found a fast-food van and asked if we did burgers!
