Street Pastors is a Christian multi-denominational initiative with a mandate to make a positive difference in the lives of young people and to the night time economy. Street Pastors is an initiative of Ascension Trust and pioneered in London in 2003. There are now over 11,000 trained street pastors, and they play an active part in 270 towns and cities around the UK. There are a growing number of Street Pastors teams overseas.

Street Pastors engage with people on the streets to care for them, listen to them and help them. They work together with other partners in the night-time economy to make communities safer.

Jesmond Street Pastors joins two other patrols in Newcastle. Street Pastors Newcastle was launched in December 2008 and Street Pastors Whitley Bay launched in December 2011.

This ministry trains and equips Christian people to serve in a relevant way by caring, listening and helping. Street Pastors go into places of need, caring for vulnerable people, especially those who find themselves on the margins of society.

If you’d like more information about becoming a Street Pastor in Jesmond email Chris: jesmond@streetpastors.org.uk. We also need people willing to pray for the teams.
