aboutNationally, Street Pastors are in nearly 300 different locations, with nearly 11,000 trained Street Pastors. Chester Street Pastors are the local expression of this national team. Street Pastors were first pioneered in London in 2003 and continues to grow throughout the UK and across the world.

Street Pastors are well trained volunteers, from local Christian churches, who care about their local communities.

The initiative is led by the local coordinator who works on behalf of the charity’s trustees, who act as the management team. We are funded by individuals and churches, the local council and business community and through various funding applications. The local council and police are supportive of what we do and we work collaboratively with them and all the other voluntary and statutory agencies within the Borough of Cheshire West and Chester.

Street pastors are trained volunteers from local churches and we care about our community. Our volunteers are drawn from many different local churches and denominations and we work collaboratively with the police, local council and other agencies.

We are usually on patrol from about 10pm to 3am on a Friday and Saturday night, and operate extra Saturday patrols when there are races on at Chester Race course or other special town events. We work on the streets of Chester and are there to care for, listen to and help people who are in Chester city centre.

Chester Street Pastors is a Charity registered in England and Wales, charity number 1176688.
