Prayer Update for October 2022

Give thanks to God:

Our 2 new Street Pastors who’ve started their training course. This is a weekly commitment through to December!

Please pray for:

For the Committee – at our September meeting we were conscious of the lack of volunteers to enable us to continue Street Pastors into 2023 and beyond.
6 more volunteers! We need a Coordinator, at least 2 Prayer Pastors and 3 Committee members in addition to the 2 Street Pastors to be able to continue.
Support from local churches throughout Hounslow Borough

for 2 recent applications for Street Pastors – we plan to get them booked for the autumn training course
for the interest shown in volunteering from our Street Pastor feature at Holy Trinity, Hounslow
for the ongoing work of the Committee and the support of Ascension Trust

Please pray for:

more volunteers! In addition to the 2 Street Pastors we need a Coordinator, at least 2 Prayer Pastors and 3 Committee members to be able to continue
for the Committee as we assess viability to continue Street Pastors into 2023 and beyond

June 2022

Hounslow Street Pastors plea for help!

The pandemic hit our ministry hard and Hounslow Street Pastors is at the point of closing if we do not have an influx of volunteers in the next 3 months. We were unable to hold night-time patrols for 2 years. We undertook some shorter daytime patrols in 2021 as restrictions changed. In 2022 we’ve managed 2 shorter evening patrols as a trial, and the night-time economy has changed, but we had to cancel May’s patrol due to insufficient team through illness.

Over the last 2 years our pool of volunteers has been adversely affected – and we currently need more – committee members, a co-ordinator, Prayer Pastors and Street Pastors.

This ministry started in 2009, and it’s difficult to think that it might not be able to continue. Many local churches have supported us through prayer, gifts, hosting, pulpit space, and volunteers.

Street Pastors is an international organisation, with trained volunteers from local churches of different denominations and we care about our community. We do not preach but aim to care, listen, and help. Some of our members are willing to visit your church to talk about Hounslow Street Pastors – just ask!

Hounslow Street Pastors urgently need the following:

Committee members Our chair, Rev Claudia Lupi, is off to pastures new in July. Resignations over the last 2 years leaves us with just 3 Trustees! We need a minimum of 3 more but can have up to 9.

Co-ordinator This is a paid, partime job (£14ph), dealing primarily with the administration for the team and committee. A job description is available, and hours can be agreed to suit. Our previous Co-ordinator left at the start of the pandemic, and we need urgent help to catch up with several aspects of work.
Street Pastors Our team of 5 is reduced to 4 when Claudia leaves. Over the past 2 years, 3 of the team have had to deal with significant personal issues that affects their availability. We need a minimum of 3 for night-time patrols and do not expect to be able to staff these until more volunteers are trained.
Prayer Pastors An important part of our ministry, undertaking to pray whilst patrols take place. Over the last year we’ve developed this as praying at home, although in the past PPs have been at base for night-time patrols. We need at least 2-4 new people.
Finance Donations in the last 12 months mean that we are in a strong position and can pay the training for several new Street Pastors.

For the life of Alan Thomas, an ardent supporter of Street Pastors. Alan had been both a Street and Prayer Pastor and passed away in late December.
Reinstatement of patrols – for the dedication of our Prayer Pastors and Street Pastors
for recent donations – we appreciate the support of Hounslow Borough churches sharing in this ministry

for potential recruits and forthcoming training – it’s a big commitment
opportunities to speak in local churches, involving them in this work

Hounslow Street Pastors Initiative (HSPI) Prayer Update for April, May and June 2019

Give thanks to God:

that Rev. Claudia Lupi has agreed to be the new Chair of the HSPI Committee
that Street Pastors are so accepted and appreciated on the streets by those they meet, many of whom have no other Christian connection.

Please pray for:

all those who are vulnerable in our borough, either through homelessness, mental health issues or poverty and that as the Street Pastors meet with them they will experience God’s love for them.
more people to train as Street Pastors as well as for more Prayer Pastors and committee members. It is great to see how God uses us in different ways each time we patrol and it would be great to have more people involved so that we could expand our ministry.

for the great response from the shop owners, pub landlords and the general public who the Street Pastors engage with on a Friday night.

A replacement Chair of Committee to be found by the beginning of Feb 2019!
New committee members. We need Christian people who have a few hours spare to meet up every 2 months to help us support the Street & Prayer Pastors. Meeting times are very flexible so can fit in with your other commitments. No previous experience is required, just a heart for all those in Hounslow Borough.

Hounslow Street Pastors Prayer Update April/May 2015

Please remember in your personal and Church prayers:

The vulnerable men and women whom the team meets regularly who seek relief from their problems through alcohol or drug abuse.
The several team members who have had to resign or been unable to fulfil their roles in recent weeks. There is now an urgent need for more Street Pastors to train, and Prayer Pastors and committee members to offer for this valuable ministry in order that it may continue. Please pray for Saffie, our newest recruit, as he trains to be a Street Pastor.
The number of night patrols has had to be reduced to once a month. Please remember the Street Pastors on patrol and the Prayer Pastors at the night base on Fridays 24^th April and 8th and 29^th May.

Hounslow Street Pastors Prayer Update February / March 2015

Please remember in your personal and Church prayers:

All who are vulnerable on the streets at night in Hounslow including the homeless who because of various problems are unable to benefit from offers of help. Praise God that one man whom we referred to Street Link was given somewhere to stay within 48 hours.
The team – Street Pastors: Cathy, Marlon, Sheila, Ann, Donna, Robin, Margaret and Gayle and Prayer Pastors: Sally, Margaret, Emma, Alan and Yvonne. Also, the two or three people who are considering training as Street Pastors.
The need for more committee members to join Noële, Cathy, Nim, Robin and Barbara to give support in recruitment and communications.
The Street Pastor patrols and the Prayer Pastors at the night base on 13^th and 27^th February and 13th and 27^th March.
