5th Tunbridge Wells Street Pastors Commissioning Service
On January 18 2014 we held our 5th Commissioning Service – and it didn’t snow! It was also an opportunity for us to say goodbye to Bob Street who has been chair of trustees and a significant driving force behind getting TWSP set up in the first place.
Six Street Pastors were commissioned: Vicky Daniel (Church of Christ), Adrian Haselden (St John’s), Graham Hickson-Smith (St Matt’s), Dinah Sheppard (St Peter’s Pembury), Rev Jim Stevens (Christ Church Southborough) and 1 Prayer Pastor: Chris Anscombe (New Life).

Congratulations! On 2
October 2013 Street Pastors won 2 awards: the ‘Safer Community Award’ with a certificate, trophy and cheque for £500. Street Pastors also won the overall ‘Love Where You Live’ award with Trophy, certificate and cheque for a further £1000.
This is a wonderful and yet humbling achievement, especially in view of the competition. This is such an encouraging recognition of all that our Street and Prayer Pastors bring to our town on a regular basis. Through the wet, the wind, the dry, the warm and the cold – they are making a tangible difference on the streets of Tunbridge Wells….they are bringing the Kingdom of God to bear out on our streets.

Tunbridge Wells Street Pastors picked up 2 awards at the “Love Where We Live Awards” on 16th May 2012:
- Winner of Best Group
- Finalist in the Innovation category
Cliff Gathercole, Jean Meadows, Vanessa Nicholls and Doreen Blackman attended the ceremony to receive the awards and a cheque for £500. Well done to all.
We were also presented with a certificate of achievement by Kent Police at a SP Kent celebration in Maidstone in November 2011.
