As some of our supporters will know, we have been wanting to replace our handsets for some years. The old ones had limited range and communications were poor on occasions. Thanks to a very generous donation from Willesborough Baptist Church, on Thursday we took delivery of our wonderful new radios and initial testing quickly showed they were a huge improvement on the old ones.
The Street Pastors on patrol can now clearly and easily communicate with one another and with base within the whole of town centre including from inside County Square, by the tank and outside Lidl’s, all areas where previously there was extremely poor or no communication possible.
All Street Pastors on patrol now have direct communication with Town Control without information having to be relayed via base. This will improve our response times to situations highlighted by Town Control, reduce misunderstandings and improve the accuracy of information transferred.
