Who can join Street Pastors?
You need to be aged 18 to 98, a member of a local Croydon Church, and fit enough to spend a night walking the streets.
But much more than these, you need a compassionate heart for people, and a sense that this is how God would want you to serve the community.
You’ll always be part of a team, never out on your own. And there will always be a more experienced Team Leader.
How can I join the team?
Contact our Coordinator and ask for an application form. You will need to provide two references, and also agree to undergo a statutory criminal record check for this role. Don’t worry, we’ll help you get all the paperwork processed.
We run a training course twice a year, and so we’ll ensure you get all the training you need. Then you can join us on the streets. You need to commit to go out with the team once a month.
What if I’m interested, but not sure?
You can come with us as an observer for one night, just to get a taste of what it is like. You’ll also get to meet some of the team. After this you can decide whether it is for you, and then apply to join the team. Contact our Coordinator and ask for an observer form.
